Week 4 Recap

Volleyball Highlights

Our Volleyball Teams had 2 games this week. Here are some highlights!
Game vs. French Prairie
7th A Team: A hard fought game against Cascade. Lots of long volleys and hustle from the Cougars. Ireland had some amazing dump sets that tricked Cascade. Kollins, Daphne, and Nova had killer serving streaks.
7th B Team: A 2-1 win in the match. Joanna G. served 9 points in a row one game, and then 10 in a row the next! Sophia had some great passes and Sadie had some amazing saves.
8th A Team: Won all 3. Both setters, Reba D. and Emilee F. put up some really awesome balls for our team to hit. Brooklyn B. also played aggressively at the net!
8th B Team: A win for the Cougars! Shout out to Vanessa for being so coachable and getting 10+ serves in a row in the 2nd set. A shout out as well to Nadia for passing well and having such a great attitude in the game.

Game vs. Patton
7th A Team: Ari had an amazing night of passes, digs, and hits in a loss for the Cougars. Kollins did great as our setter and hustled around the floor. Valentina had some great serving streaks.
7th B Team: Another win for the Cougars. Sophia had more great saves to follow up her Monday game. Mackenzie had 4 serves in a row. Lorelei had great passes. Really impressive to see the team come together and power back after losing the first game and then winning the next two.
8th A Team: Won all 3. Emma O had some awesome swings on the outside and Ella J was a strong and consistent server.
8th B Team: A 3-0 sweep. Shout out to Janeth for getting her serve over the net. Also, great work by Aaliah, Jaelynn, Kendall, and Jayden for working hard to get 3 touches every play.

Football Highlights

Our 7th and 8th grade football teams were both home this week. Here's what coaches had to share!
Games vs. McMinnville and North Marion
7th Grade Team vs. McMinnville: Cougars win 38-24. What a game. Both sides of the ball did great. Player of the game goes to Adam Anaya. He was everywhere and making plays the whole game. Zion Ellison also had a great game at center with only one missed snap. Both Eli and Sam H. had big plays on offense and defense with touchdowns and interceptions of their own. Salem K had a big sack in the third, and Carter R. had a big sack at the end of the game along with multiple tackles for loss. Great work Cougars!

8th Grade Team vs. Cascade: North Marion had a small team, so we adjusted to play 9 on 9, and later in the game, 8 on 8. Our players adapted well and had an explosive game. A 54-0 win that featured some big plays in the first half. Everybody got some great experience and we look forward to a great rematch this next week with Cascade.

Boys/Girls Soccer Highlights

Soccer teams had 2 games this week.
Game 1 vs. Duniway
Boys A Team: Another rough outing and an 0-8 loss. We were missing a few important players. Please encourage athletes to get their classwork in so they can join us on the field!
Boys B Team:  A close start to the game, with it being 0-1 at half, and then 1-1 just after the half started. Some substitutions by Duniway led to mismatches and the game ended 1-7
Girls Team: A loss on the night, but great play from our Lady Cougars.

Game 2 vs. French Prairie
Boys A Team: Players worked hard, but we had another 0-8 loss in our rematch.
Boys B Team: A great rematch that got away from us in the 2nd half. After scoring first, Talmadge gave up 3 goals in the 2nd half to lose 2-3 on the night. Gael and Alex both scored for the Cougars.
Girls Team: Another close game that got away from the Cougars. So much improvement this year though!

Cross Country Highlights

Cross Country participated at the Paul Mariman Invitational today (Saturday). This race featured a 2 mile course instead of the typical middle school 3k race.
TMS Girls placed 2nd overall (7 teams competed) and had 7 runners in the top 25 (91 total).  Top finishers were Danielle F, Luisa S, Linnaea B, Allie E, Sadie G, Anya T, and Laura G. Great job to our runners!

TMS Boys also placed 2nd overall, finishing just 3 points behind Philomath. 6 Talmadge boys finished in the top 25 (85 runners). Top finishers were Ayden A, Grafton B, Griffy G, Albert H, Koal O, and Xander W.

TMS has a short 3 days before their next race, the Cascade Corncob Classic! Top 10 finishers get a neat wood medal and a can of corn! How many cans will we be bringing back next week?
