TMS Athletics Highlights from Week 6 (Oct. 19 - Oct. 23)

Our Fall Season is just about wrapped up- one last 7th grade football game. We are so grateful for all the family, friends, and support at our games. Thanks for all those that have shared pictures as well. We have had a fantastic season and the athletes have grown so much!

Winter Sports is about to kick off with practices for Boys Basketball and Girls Wrestling set to start next week. Games will begin the week of November 8th.

Here is one last recap for celebration!

Check out the results and highlights from our competitions this week!

Cross Country participated at the Philomath MS Race on Oct. 19th. It was a dry course with a lot of dust this week!

TMS Girls placed 2nd overall (8 teams competed) and outran league opponents from Stayton and Lebanon. TMS had 7 runners in the top 30 (122 total).  The course felt a bit long and explains why we didn't see any personal bests, but fantastic running by our whole team!

TMS Boys placed 4th overall. 5 Talmadge boys finished in the top 30 (133 runners). A big shout out to superman Bennett T. for being the only TMS runner to get a personal best on the course, and crushing his previous best time by over 30 seconds. Nice Job!

Soccer teams had 2 games this week.

Boys A Team: A 0-6 loss.

Boys B Team:  Cougars lost 1-2. Finley H. with the long TMS goal on the night.

Girls Team: A great game that ended as a 3-3 draw. Shout outs to Quetzally, Daniela, and Leonor for their good defense. Amazing game by Abby up front and a hat trick on the night!

Boys A Team: A 6-2 win for the Cougars to end their season. Hat trick by Christian D, and additional goals by Josiah B., Alan G.C (off a deep free kick), and Tony M.S. (A sweet header off a corner kick).

As we wrap up the season, please know how proud of the teams the coaches are. You've shown great growth both as soccer players and as teammates. Each of you has improved, faced challenges, and learned what it means to work together towards a common goal.

"Do the little things right, and the big things will take care of themselves."

Girls Team:  A high scoring night that ended as a 5-7 loss for the Lady Cougars. Big shout outs to Mia, leah, Allison, and Monse for beign ready to go in at any position coaches needed them. Great work by the whole team for trying their best in every game and for a great season.

Our Volleyball Teams had 2 games this week. Here are some highlights!

7th A Team: Cougars fought hard on the short net, but no win for us this evening. Nia had an amazing "Set spike"! Addi and Daphne both had some great hits. Ari and Kollins killed it in the back row with consistent digs.

7th B Team: Won the first game, but lost the next two. Great game and everyone played really aggressively. Lots of saves out of the net and a few bump, set, spike combos.

Here's what coaches had to share about our games this week:

7th Grade Team vs. McMinnville: A Really hard battle between these teams in a rematch that ended in a loss this time. McMinnville got the win after losing the first match up. Looking forward to our final game against Sweet Home on Monday.

8th Grade Team vs. McMinnville: A close and hard fought game that ended up a loss for the Cougars. The team played magnificent in their effort and discipline, but it just didn't work out. Celebrate the effort. What a great season and good luck next year as Panthers!
